Interesting that Miike and go along with a lot she says... can't get me head around that one of the reasons they never darted him was that he a) might have drowned ?? and b) he might have fallen on the kid?? Pretty sure that shooting him makes a) not very relevant and b) he can still fall on the kid when shot...

This reminds me a bit of when those wolves escaped their enclosure at Colchester Zoo... half of them got bored and just went back in and the others just sniffed about for an hour or so... could have quite easily darted them ... but decided to shoot for the safety of public... don't know how Yanks and Canadians survive with WILD wolfs on their continent.... actually just looked it up... 1 fatal attack in over 10 years... and this lot were probably about as wild as a fucking squirrel

See the video of the ladwho fell into that Gorilla enclosure in the UK back in the 80's.

The difference was amazing. Everyone watching from the walls was so quiet in order to not upset the Gorillas. Eventually he moved on and they got the boy out with minimal fuss.

The shouting and wailing from the crowd was probably a large factor as to why the Gorilla acted the way it did.

Typical yanks.

It's been said numerous times in numerous outlets, tranquilizers aren't like films and television - they don't work in an in instant, and as MiM said, they're like to aggravate the animal even further before knocking it out.

Re: That gorilla getting shot
Yeah I know let's shoot a dart into a 30-stone silverback gorilla playing around with a 4 year old. That won't wind it up.

Imagine they'd have tried that and the kid would have died?

charleyfarley 10:51 Wed Jun 1
Re: That gorilla getting shot
OTB they could have tranquillised the gorilla but it can take up to 10 mins to take effect and could have become violent

I saw that too.

Speaking of facebook ever noticed all the people in these situations who give it the "humans are the worst animal we should be extinct" shit as if they're saying something radical don't ever get seen to celebrate famines or genocides, or even better just put their money where their mouth is and top themselves?

Everyone's always an animal rights activist for a couple of days after something like this.

See also that dolphin in Argentina or whatever.
